Janelle Dawn Novak, 55, of Rapid City
Memorial services will be 11 AM, Saturday, May 27, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Inurnment will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Janelle Dawn Novak was born in Wagner, SD on April 17, 1962 to Ed and Joan (Kuhlman) Novak. She returned to her heavenly Father on Friday, May 19, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Janelle was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wagner and graduated from Wagner Community School in 1980. After graduation, Janelle attended Patricia Stevens Fashion and Secretarial College, graduating with a secretarial certificate in 1981. She moved to Gillette, WY after graduation and then Phoenix, AZ where she lived until 2000. From there she moved to Rapid City, SD and then Reno, NV, returning to Rapid City in 2008 to be closer to family. Janelle worked in accounts payable for Premier Home Mortgage until she entered hospice care in March 2017.
Janelle was known for her love of her family, especially her great-nieces and nephews. She also loved collecting unique items from estate sales and flea markets. She always wore Youth Dew perfume.
Janelle is survived by her parents, Ed and Joan of Wagner, two sisters, Robbie Novak and Sheri (Todd) Bartunek; one brother, Brad (Pam) Novak; one niece, Heather (children, Kellen, Drew and Avery) Archambeau; one nephew, Jared (wife, Jennifer and daughter, Emma) Archambeau, all of Rapid City. She is also survived by three nephews, Tyler (wife, Cindy and children, Joey, Kali, Teryn, Isaiah, RJ and Amerie) Bartunek of Huron, SD, Zach (Megan) Bartunek and Myles Bartunek, both of Ft. Collins, CO; Aunt, Ina (Schultz) Kuhlman of Rapid City and Uncle, Don (Bonnie) Novak of Wagner.
Janelle was preceded into death by her grandparents, Louis and Carrie (Denker) Kuhlman and Adolph and Rose (Cihak) Novak; an uncle, Darrell Kuhlman; cousin, Debbie Kuhlman; three aunts: Sylvia (Novak) Foster, Betty (Novak) Christensen, Arlene (Novak) Siebrand; and two uncles, Chris Christensen and Buck Siebrand.
