Addie Kapfenstein, 97, of Lesterville, formerly of Delmont
Funeral services are 1 PM, Monday, March 30, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont with Pastor Richard Weeman officiating. Burial is in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Delmont. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 PM until 6 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.
Addie Kapfenstein was born November 3, 1911 on the Powers Homestead in rural Delmont, South Dakota, the daughter of Robert Franklin and Flora B. (Marvin) Powers. She went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 at the Menno-Olivet Care Center in Menno. Addie attained the age of 97 years, four months and 22 days.
Addie attended rural school. She married Edwin Kapfenstein at Lake Andes on December 18, 1934. Together they farmed northeast of Wagner until they retired in 1974. They moved to Lesterville on September 28, 1996. Edwin died on September 28, 2001.
Addie was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural Delmont. She transferred her membership to Zion Lutheran Church in Delmont after St. Paul's closed.
Addie will be remembered for her love of quilting, her many grandchildren and her friends. Thankful for having shared her life are her four children: Darlene and husband Cliff Gullikson of Yankton, Donald and wife Bernie Kapfenstein of Freeport, IL, Gloria and husband Larry Schurman of Yankton, and Marilyn and husband James Lynch of South Burlington, VT; 11 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Addie was preceded in death by her husband Edwin, son Gilbert in 2005, a granddaughter, Jodie Rollinger; parents; a sister, Agnes Jurrens; two brothers: Walter and Claude Powers; and two half brothers: Robert and Harry Powers.
