Albina Soukup, 92, of Wagner
Funeral Mass is 10:30 AM, Wednesday, October 15, 2014 (on her 93rd birthday) at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner with burial in the church cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner, followed by Rosary/Wake service at 7 PM, Tuesday at the church.
Albina Christina (Cimpl) Soukup was born on the homestead south of Dante on October 15, 1921, the daughter of John and Frances (Pilna) Cimpl. She died Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner.
Albina attended the Rouse Township School. After her 8th grade graduation she worked in Yankton at Yankton Produce and as a nanny. She was united in marriage to Raymond A. Soukup on August 7, 1950 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Dante, SD. Together they farmed south of Wagner and she was a farm wife and mother. They moved into Wagner in 1981. She entered the Good Samaritan Society in April of 2009.
Albina was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Altar Society, Catholic Daughters, First Lady Slovak and the Hospital Auxiliary. She and Raymond were very proud of their Czech Heritage.
Albina will be remembered for her love of sewing, gardening, playing cards, volunteering, african violets, visiting the elderly, babysitting for her grandchildren and going to their sporting and school events.
Thankful for having shared her life are her husband Raymond of Wagner; three children: Julie (Kolda) Dickes and husband Tim of Sioux Falls; Rosie and husband Dwayne Koupal of Dante and Joe and wife Joni (Miller) Soukup of Wagner; seven grandchildren: Clint (LeighAnn) Kolda, Jason Kolda, Michael (Tera) Koupal, Mandy Koupal, Michele (Cullen) Wilson, Joey (Kristen) Soukup and Jamie (Charlene) Soukup; seven great grandchildren: Kyle Benjamin Kolda, Noah James Kolda, Macy Donetta Koupal, Ashlyn Rose Koupal, Michael Cruise Koupal, Clarah Violet Soukup and Windsor Raymond Soukup; brother Wes (Evelyn) Cimpl of Yankton; sister Marie (Bob) Soukup of Wagner; sisters-in-law, Mary Cimpl and Eleanor (Bob) Andersh, all of Wagner; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Albina was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charlie Cimpl and John and Irene Cimpl; and sister Frances and Leonard Nedved; nephews, Bobby Soukup, Mike Cimpl and niece Sherrie Nedved.
