Alvin Moysis, 82, of Wagner
Alvin died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Visitation will be at the church on Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 PM.
Alvin Roy Moysis was born September 17, 1933 in Kimball, SD, the son of James and Emma (Pospichal) Moysis. He died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner.
At an early age, Alvin's family moved to the Sleepy Hollow Ranch south of Dante. He received his education through the eighth grade at a rural school south of Dante. Alvin served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
Alvin was united in marriage to Mary Delores Soulek at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes on May 21, 1956. Together they farmed and ranched south of Dante and raised a family of six kids. He loved raising Charolais cattle and loved to cut hay. Delores died unexpectedly on July 18, 2003.
Alvin was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Soil Conservation District and the Moose Lodge of Yankton.
Alvin will be remembered for his love of traveling. He traveled as often as he could and visited all 50 states. He also loved going to auction sales, car races, collecting antiques, his cats and dogs, fishing and hunting, especially antelope hunting.
Thankful for having shared his life are his children: Jeanne Uherka and husband Dan of Wagner; Sally Medricky and Glen Peterson of Springfield; James Moysis of Wagner; Joannie Van Duysen and husband Mark of Wagner; Tom Moysis and Chelsey Swanson of Wagner; and Dennis Moysis of Freeman; 15 grandchildren: Jennifer, Nick, Sara, Wendy, Mike, Roger, Jackie, Jody, Jason, Dana, Bo,Wes, Oakley, Kasidy and Sheldon; 27 great grandchildren; special friend, Eunice Sayler of Aberdeen; two brothers: Lee of Highmore and Robert of Wagner; two sisters: Martha Gengler of Rapid City and Eleanor Anderson of Wagner; and many relatives and friends.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Delores; parents; two brothers: Charles and Ed; and three sisters: Gen Conger, Olive Dunsmore and Marie Anderson.
