Andrea Huapapi, 48, of Wagner
Funeral services were held 10:00 AM, Monday, August 3, 2015 at the National Guard Armory in Wagner. Burial was in the Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.
Andrea Lynn was born to Dorothy F. Kazena and John H. Huapapi on April 17, 1967, in Wagner, SD. Throughout her childhood, she enjoyed playing many sports before she graduated in 1985 from Marty Indian School. After high school, Andrea went directly to Job Corps in Clearfield, UT. She then worked for the Yankton Sioux Tribe as an Enrollment Officer and then moved to Sioux City, IA. Andrea was currently employed at the IHS where she worked for nearly 15 years as the Patient Registration Clerk.
On October 24, 1994, Andrea and Carlos Gonzalez were married. They raised three beautiful daughters: Olivia, Alejandra and Alyssiana.
Andi loved cooking out for family gatherings and anybody she could possibly feed. She was famously known for her homemade bread and tamales. Andi also enjoyed going to the river, visiting relatives, casino time and spoiling Baby Eric.
On June 26, 2015, Andrea was hospitalized with life threatening illnesses for several weeks. She entered the Spirit World peacefully Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in Rochester, MN. Andi will forever be remembered for her humor - she loved to make everyone laugh! There wasn't a moment where she didn't have a smile on her face! Andi always went out of her way to help everyone she could. She was a very humble, selfless woman. Most of all, Andi dedicated her life to her daughters.
Andi leaves to mourn her husband, Carlos and her three daughters: Olivia, 23; Alejandra, 21; and Alyssiana, 18; sisters: Michelle, Armantha, Sue and Sharon; brothers: Curt and Troy; and many other relatives and friends.
Andi is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Kazena and father, john Huapapi; her baby sister, Becky; along with her grandparents, Alice and Fred, and Dennis and Irene; and many aunts, uncles and cousins whom she loved.
