Anne Carda daughter of Peter and Anne (Zetek) Hayek, was born at Wahoo, NE on January 18, 1916. She passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Anne attained the age of 96 years, two months and 19 days.

As a young girl, Anne moved to Lake Andes with her parent and siblings and attended schools in the Lake Andes area.

Anne married Edward Carda on April 23, 1935 at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes. They moved to California in 1940 and then returned to farm in the Lake Andes area in 1945. Living near several brothers and sisters and their families, they spent happy times at house parties and dances. Anne loved being outdoors helping with the farm activities, gardening, raising her chickens, ducks and geese, and fishing. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and drew her family together at her Sunday dinners. Anne was known for her "special cinnamon rolls" by her family and her church family. Participating in bowling and attending basketball and baseball games was her enjoyment.

Anne was an active member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lake Andes, participating in the Catholic Daughters and the Altar Society and Eucharist Ministry. For many years Anne cleaned and supported the church in many ways. She also volunteered at the Lake Andes nursing home.

After Ed's death in 1987, Anne continued to live on the farm near Lake Andes until she suffered a stroke and moved to the Wagner Good Samaritan Society on June 15, 2005.

Grateful for sharing her life are her three children: Anne Otte and husband Louie of Wagner; Harold Carda and wife Pat of Hermosa; and Judie Dilts and husband Ron of Wagner; 13 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; her little sister, Helen; parents; sister, Agnes Carda; three brothers: Ed, Albin and Clarence; and grandson, Tim Otte.
