Mrs Henry H Hyde, 95, of Wagner
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 16, 2008 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner, with Pastor Gordon Higgins, officiating. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Friday from 3 PM until 8 PM with the family present from 6:30 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs Henry H Hyde, 95, a resident of Wagner, SD passed away Monday morning, August 11, 2008 at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, after a short illness. Anne Hamminga was born to William and Grace (Verheek) Hamminga near Springfield, South Dakota on January 26,1913, the second child of three children. Her parents had immigrated to America from Holland in 1910.
Anne received her grade school and high school education in Springfield and her college education at Southern state Normal in Springfield and Dakota Wesleyan in Mitchell. She taught rural schools in Wahehe township southwest of Wagner, the government school in Greenwood and tutored in Marty. She also did substitute teaching and retired in 1972.
Anne was united in marriage to Henry Hyde on April 7, 1935 in Platte, SD. They farmed in Wahehe township and retired in 1974 and moved into Wagner.
Anne received a 50 year membership honor with the Order of Eastern Star in 1994. Anne loved to read and crochet, giving numerous items to family and friends.
Thankful for having shared her life are son Dean and wife Evelyn of Pierre; daughter Marilyn of Wagner; four grandchildren: Brenda Hyde; James and wife Jill Hyde; Lisa Gates; and Mark and wife Angie Hyde; seven great grandchildren: Taylor Hyde; Melissa, Jamie and Madison Hyde; Griffin Gates; Talon Hyde; and Kaine Rondeau.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Henry in 1972; son, Charles in 1996; infant grandson, John in 1963; her parents: William in 1948 and Grace in 1967; sister, Jennie Christians in 1995 and Jennie's husband, John E. Christians in 1976; and an infant sister, Wilhelminain 1918.
