Obituary

Funeral service are 10:30 A.M, Monday, November 26, 2007 at the East Lake Andes Lutheran Church, rural Armour. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Sunday from 10 AM until 7 PM, followed by a 7 PM Prayer Service at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.
Arthur Leonard Johnson was born March 14, 1908 in rural Wagner, South Dakota, the son of Swedish immigrants, Oscar and Ida (Carlson) Johnson. He died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at the Lake Andes Health Care Center in Lake Andes, SD. Art attained the age of 99 years, eight months and eight days.
Art attended school through the eighth grade in rural Charles Mix County schools. He was a life long resident of Charles Mix County except for the two years of 1948-49, where he lived in Winlock, WA.
Art married Melba Dailey on September 23, 1932, at her parent's home in rural Wagner. Together they farmed until her death on November 16, 1950. Four children were born to their union. Art married Mazie Vivian "Bib" Summy at Meckling on August 19, 1954. They lived on a farm northeast of Ravinia until later moving into Ravinia. Bib died on February 24, 1990.
Art will be remembered for his love for his grandchildren and farming. He enjoyed a new car, going for Sunday drives, watching Westerns on TV, going on trips and singing.
Art was a member of the East Lake Andes Lutheran Church.
Thankful for having shared his life are his four daughters: Beverly Beeson, of Wagner;
Beryle and husband Richard Uecker, of Wagner; Darlene and husband Richard Dvorak, of
Lake Andes; and Donna and husband Anton Stastny, of Wagner; two step daughters:
Shirley and husband Ron Feltman, of Chamberlain; Carole and husband Jimmy Sauls, of
Mershon, GA; step daughter-in-law, Blanche Summy, of Palotka, FL; 11 grandchildren;
eight step grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
Art was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; three brothers: infant twin brother, Arvin, Herman and Carl Johnson; a sister, Elin Cederburg; son-in-law, Ray Beeson and step-son, Gene Summy.
