Austin Heth, 49

Austin died Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral services are Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Greenwood Community Center in Greenwood. Burial is in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery. Wake services will be 7 PM on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Greenwood Community Center.

Austin Evan Heth began his earthly journey on March 10, 1977, in Flandreau, South Dakota, born to Linda May (Greely) Heth and Basil Mark Heth. As the fourth oldest of ten siblings, Austin grew up surrounded by a large, loving family that remained an important part of his life.

On Saturday, July 18, 2026, Austin began his journey to the Happy Hunting Grounds at Wagner Community Memorial Hospital.

Austin graduated as the valedictorian of Marty Indian School’s Class of 1995. Throughout his life, he was known for his love of cooking, which became both his passion and his profession. He worked as a cook at several places over the years, including Fort Randall Casino, Ohiya Casino & Resort, Marty Indian School, and Flandreau Indian School. Whether preparing meals for family, friends, students, or coworkers, Austin found joy in bringing people together through food.

Austin was first and foremost a devoted father. He leaves behind his beloved children: Isaiah Heth, Kaleb Heth, Thomas Heth, Naomi Heth, Nadia Heth, and Natani Heth. He was also a proud grandfather to Atreus, Kenai, and Clayson, each of whom brought him immense joy.

He is also survived by his brothers: Bryan, Eric, Desmond, Paco, Adam, and Wade Heth; his sister Ashley Heth; his many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends who will cherish his memory.

Austin was preceded in death by his parents, Linda May (Greely) Heth and Basil Mark Heth; his sisters: Kim Heth and Marla Heth; and his baby brother, Isaac Heth.

Austin will be remembered for his kind heart, his dedication to his family, his love of cooking, and the quiet ways he cared for those around him. His memory will live on in the lives he touched, the meals he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
