Bessie Cante Waste Winyan Weddell, 43, of Marty

Services are 10 AM, Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the YST South Community Gym in Wagner. Wake services will begin Wednesday at the Gym. Burial is in the Greenwood Presbyterian Cemetery.

Bessie started her journey to the Spirit World on Monday, May 11, 2026.

Bessie was born March 31, 1983 in Sioux Falls, SD to Sandy Weddell and Rex Tommy.

In her younger years she attended school in South Dakota, Wisconsin, Washington and Arizona.

Besssie was a shining light and made lifelong friendships wherever she was.

Bessie was a determined, educated person. She graduated from Sinte Gleska University with an Associates of Arts degree in Human Services. Bessie was near completion of her Bachelor of Arts Criminal Justice Program.

Bessie enjoyed working with people. She was a Paraprofessional Educator at Marty Indian School and worked at Fort Randall Casino for several years.

Bessie was a free spirit that was loved by many. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Bessie liked listening to music, dancing, cruising, shopping and gambling. She was an extremely compassionate, caring and giving person.

She is survived by her children: Ahmarie Cooke, Wahinkpe Arrow, Jazen Cooke, Novi Arrow, David Arrow III, Ahvaliyah Arrow; grand babies Ahdriu Cooke and Kenai Arrow; and son-in-law Jorge Gonzalez-Vergel. She adored all of her children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Her siblings are: Sophia Weddell, M.J. Gentry, Wambli Dolezal, Joshua Tommy, Rose Resendiz and Chase Tommy.

Bessie is preceded in death by her Grandmother Elaine Little, Mother Elaine Little, uncles: Randy Little, Larry Weddell, Ernest Weddell Jr.; aunt Diane Milk; and cousins: Randi Lynn Gullikson and Cody Gullikson.
