Betty J. Honomichl, 90, of Tyndall
Betty died Thursday, February 22, 2024 at St. Micheal's Hospital in Tyndall. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM with a memorial service at 2 PM, Saturday March 9, 2024 at Peters Funeral Home in Wagner, SD. Inurnment will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Peters Funeral Home of Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Betty J. Honomichl, daughter of Ben and Bertha (Buchholz) Giedd, was born March 27, 1933 in Dante, SD. She died February 22, 2024 at St. Micheal's Hospital in Tyndall, SD. Betty attained the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 26 days. She attended county school through the eighth grade south of Dante.
Betty married Jerry Honomichl on June 14, 1949. They farmed in the Wagner area until retiring and moving to Avon, where they lived for seven years. They then moved to Tyndall, where she lived until her death. During Bettys life, she worked in the Wagner Nursing Home and CR Industries of Springfield until she retired.
Betty will be remembered for enjoyment of working outside and in her garden. She gave away most of what she grew. She went for many walks and enjoyed reading, especially western books. Betty liked to bake specifically homemade bread. It brought Betty much joy to see pictures of the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Betty was always taking care of someone.
Thankful fo having shared her life children: Diane (Vernon) Klein of Herrick, SD, Danny (Sandy) Honomichl of Wagner, SD, and Terri (Dale) Bitterman of Parkston, SD; grandchildren: Kimberly (Brad) Vosika, Kevin and Leland (Alicia) Klein, Shawn (Ali), Randy (Natsku), and Ross Honomichl, Stephanie Hawkinson, and Richard (Amanda) Bitterman; great-grandchildren: Jesse (Laura) Vosika, Kory and Casey Klein, Chase and Hunter Hawkinson, Charlotte and Carter Bitterman, and Kanako Honomichl; and great-great-grandchildren: Keeley, Lainey, and Lorraine Vosika.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband Jerry; parents Ben and Bertha Giedd; and sisters: Ida Honomichl, Fern Fechrer, and Beverly Giedd.
