Bruce "Marlow" Pedersen, 82, of Central City, NE

Marlow died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Central City Care Center in Central City, NE. Funeral services are 2 PM, Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, SD. Visitation will be the hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in the Springfield Cemetery, rural Springfield.

Bruce "Marlow" Pedersen was born August 22, 1936 at home near Meckling, SD, the son of Ole and Bertha (Peterson) Pedersen. He died Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the Central City Care Center in Central City, NE.
Marlow graduated from Scotland High School in 1955. He worked for two years at home, then attended college at Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, SD, graduating in 1961.
Marlow married Donna Mae DeGroot on June 3, 1959 in the Kingsburg Community Church.
Marlow taught at Harrisburg High School for two years. They moved to Sunshine Bible Academy, Miller, SD in June 1963. He earned his Masters of Science in Education degree (1970) and his Principal's Certification (1972) at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. "Coach" taught industrial arts, social science, and math at SBA. He coached football, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track, boys and girls cross country, wrestling, and volleyball. He is still known as "Coach" Pedersen to the Sunshine alumni. He was a Principal, Dean of Students, and Athletic Director. In August 1989, Marlow started at Nebraska Christian School where he was Principal and Athletic Director. He also taught industrial arts, coached boys basketball, and assisted with track. Marlow retired in 2011 after 50 years in education. Marlow and Donna have been faithful attenders of all sporting events until he passed.
Marlow was a member of Grace Fellowship Bible Church, where he was an Elder and taught Sunday School.
Other activities that Marlow enjoyed were gardening, fishing, hunting, and woodworking.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Donna Pedersen of Central City, NE; son Gregory (Paula) Pedersen of Miller, SD and their children: Grace (Stephen) May of Lawrence, KS, Emily Pedersen of Omaha, NE, Joel Pedersen of Minneapolis, MN, Daniel Pedersen of Miller, SD, Sarah Pedersen of Brookings, SD, and Samuel Pedersen of Mitchell, SD; daughter Julie (Jim) Eckhardt of Blackhawk, SD and their children: Elizabeth (Alex) French of West Lafayette, IN, Arthur Alexander French (great grandchild), and Matthew Eckhardt of West Lafayette, IN; and daughter Christine (Anthony) Hayes of Rapid City, SD, and their children: Michael Hayes of Valdosta, GA and Joshua Hayes of Rapid City, SD; siblings: Paul (Bernice) Pedersen of Scotland, SD, Budd (Carol-deceased) Pedersen of Scotland, SD, Larry Pedersen (deceased), Harold (Connie deceased) Pedersen of Milaca, MN, Sydney (Nancy) Pedersen of Oxnard, CA, and Leo (Linda) Pedersen of Scotland, SD;
Marlow was preceded in death by his parents, Ole and Bertha Pedersen; son Thomas Ole Pedersen in 1976; grandchildren Michael Anthony Hayes and Matthew Hayes; brother Larry Pedersen; and sisters-in-law, Carol and Connie Pedersen.

Memorials will be directed to Sunshine Bible Academy (Miller, SD), Nebraska Christian (Central City, NE), and Grace Bible Fellowship (Central City, NE).
