Calene died Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services are 11 AM, Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the YST South Gym in Wagner. Burial is in the Holy Name Episcopal Cemetery (Choteau Creek), rural Wagner, SD. Wake services began Monday at the South Gym.

Calene Keira McBride was born to Cameron Lee Wood and Laura Lynn McBride on April 28, 1994 in Yankton. She journeyed on to the Spirit World on April 5, 2025 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

"Lean" grew up in Wagner on the Ihanktonwan Rez. Her hobbies included walks, movie nights with tons of popcorn, playing basketball and just having a good time with family and friends.

She welcomed her beautiful daughter Keirstin Taviah on October 2, 2012. Her pride and joy! She loved her dearly and called her Taviah or Tav.

She was the youngest of six kids to graduate from Marty Indian School in May of 2014.

She is survived by her daughter Keirstin, father Cameron, 2nd mom Jackie, siblings: Whitney, Marvin, Jordan, Tierra, Nelson and Cole; uncles: Calvin Jr. and Swift Boy; grandma Bernie; and grandpas: Jerry, Terry and Bootie; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Lean was preceded in death by her mother Laura, grandparents: Cleo, Berdelene, Francis and Calvin Sr.; aunts: Mary, Mondae, Roma and Armantha; uncles: Bubba and Chris Sr.; and many other relatives.

She will be missed by all.
