Selig sind die im Herrn sterben.
The Koenig family had an answer to prayer on December 9, 1953, when a 7-pound 11-ounce blue-eyed baby girl was born in Richland, WA, to Ernest R. and Kalma M. (Wittmeier) Koenig. Brother Ronnie had been praying for a baby sister for months. Since the birth was so near Christmas, they named the baby Carol.
Carol was baptized in the Lutheran church as an infant, but she later accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized again in the Baptist church.
Carol accompanied her family from coast to coast across the U.S., living in eight states from Connecticut to California, before she graduated from Santa Cruz High School (CA) in 1971. She chose to move back to Texas, her favorite state, shortly thereafter. She met her future husband, David J. Anderson, while working at Texas Instruments, and they married in 1981. A year later on November 6, 1982, they had a daughter of their own, Shannon Marie. Carol was later divorced.
In 2012, Carol moved to DeSoto, TX, with her mother, brother, and daughter. Carol was afflicted with numerous illnesses, autoimmune disorders, and stomach problems for years, and she was no longer working. However, her death was sudden and unanticipated, cause still unknown. Through all her illnesses and surgeries, she remained strong, kind, thoughtful, and generous.
Carol had been planning to relocate to Colorado Springs with Shannon. The two of them had just returned home from there the evening of Sunday, August 19, 2012. She took time to feed her beloved birds and raccoons, for which she had a passion, before retiring. She passed away during the night at the age of only 64.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Shannon M. Anderson of DeSoto, TX; her mother, Kalma Marie (Wittmeier) Koenig and brother Ronald L. Koenig of DeSoto, TX; her aunts and uncles—Sheila J. (Wittmeier) and Norma Idlewine of Westport, IN, Gudrun K. (Wittmeier) Schoenrogge of St. Francis, KS, Clayton J. and Minnie Wittmeier of Avon, SD, and numerous Wittmeier and Koenig cousins.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate in her name to the ASPCA or dfw.rescueme.org, another animal rescue organization in Dallas.
