Carol Ann Henery, 78, of Springfield, SD, formerly of Norfolk, NE passed away on April 14, 2024 in Tyndall, SD.

Memorial services for Carol will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk, NE. Pastor Lee Weander will be officiating the service. Private family inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, April 26, also at Stonacek Funeral Chapel. Luncheon will be held after the service.

Carol was born May 4, 1945 to Woodrow (Woody) & Eleanor (Dickey) Gaughenbaugh at St. Catherine Hospital in Omaha, NE. She attended school in Emmett, NE, Atkinson, NE, Blackpipe, SD and Inman, NE. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in O'Neill, NE.

Carol married Kenneth LeRoy Henery May 11, 1968 at Methodist Church in Inman, NE and they started their home in Elgin, NE before moving to Norfolk, NE where they spent majority of their years before retiring in Springfield, SD.

Carol had several hobbies including sewing and knitting.  She especially enjoyed crocheting and has made many different things throughout the years. Crocheting was calming for her and she even made a few loops her last day on earth.

Carol leaves behind many memories for her family to cherish. She is survived by her husband of almost 56 years, Kenneth, children: Scott (Mona) Henery of Battle Creek, NE, Julia (Mark) Box of Sac City, IA, Jolene Henery of Sioux Falls, SD, Annette (Jeremie) Jelsma of Springfield, SD, and Janette (Merlin Jr) Bolling of Clearwater, NE;  10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Woodrow & Eleanor Gaughenbaugh; sister Ida Catherine Gaughenbaugh; grandson Kobe Jelsma; parents-in-law Kenneth I. & Marjorie Henery; sisters-in-law Charline Gaughenbaugh and Jeanne Henery; and brothers-in-law Eugene Henery and Lawrence (Red) Henery.
