Celeste Honomichl, 67, of Flandreau

Celeste died Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services are 11 AM, Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Burial is in the church cemetery. Wake services will be 7 PM Sunday, at the church. Crosby- Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Celeste Stephana Honomichl-Goodteacher was born on September 9, 1950 in Winnebago, NE to Aldoph Goodteacher and Vera Goodteacher. She lived in Santee, NE and South Sioux City, NE for the majority of her childhood.

She attended school at St. Michael's Catholic Elementary school until 9th grade. She then went to school at Marty Indian School in Marty, SD where she graduated in 1968. She had several friends who became her brothers and sisters. Celeste attended college at Morningside College in Sioux City, IA and graduated with a bachelor's degree which only took her 3 years to accomplish.

She was very hard working and determined, most times she would work 2 or 3 jobs at a time to provide for her 2 children, Calista and Keenan Honomichl. She was an ICWA worker since 1984 and retired in 2015, but still worked part time at a women's domestic abuse shelter. She loved helping people and spending time with her family. She also loved going to the casino.

Celeste is survived by her children, Calista and Keenan Honomichl, 4 grandchildren, Lexie, Landon, Angela, and Keenan, Jr. Honomichl; also great-grandchildren: Adriel, Vanessa, Little Landon, Alejandro, Alaina, Hector, and David.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents Aldoph and Vera Goodteacher, and sister Peggy Cournoyer.
