Chauncey Blaine, Jr., 47, of Wagner
Chauncey died unexpectedly Friday, October 3, 2008 at the IHS Hospital in Wagner. Wake services were held at the YST Gym in Wagner. Funeral services are 1 PM, Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Wagner. Burial is in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
On December 17, 1960, Chauncey David Sr. and Marjorie Louise (Huapapi) Blaine became proud parents of Chauncey David Blaine, Jr. Chauncey was raised in Greenwood South Dakota, and then moved to Marty, South Dakota. Chauncey attended St. Paul's Indian Mission School in Marty, SD. In 1981, he completed and received his GED. After accomplishing that goal, he went on to attend School of Nursing and became an orderly. Chauncey loved to work. Out of the 47 years of his life, he worked 27 years.
Chauncey's proudest moments in his time of life were help building the new Marty Indian School. More enjoyable moments were watching his grandchildren nieces and nephews dance at Pow Wows. Chauncey also loved to go to Country and Western dances. He is our #1 Cowboy. He will be remembered for his beautiful smile, excellent dance moves and his unconditional love for everyone.
Chauncey also leaves behind to mourn his mother, Marjorie (Huapapi) Blaine; his sisters: Patricia Irons (Marty), Charlotte Gunhammer (Wagner), Lydia Blaine (Lake Andes), Brenda Hare (lake Andes) and Victoria Two Elk (lake Andes); his brothers: Michael Todd (Red lake, MN), Albert Louis (Wagner), Mark "Wayne" (Wagner) and Robert Francis (Lower Brule); also his Hunka brothers: Linsy Nelson (Lake Andes) and Elsworth Chytka (lake Andes). His children: Shawn Patterson (Wagner), Andrew Blaine (Lake Andes) and Tori Gunhammer (Wagner). Chauncey also leaves behind to mourn many wonderful Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Preceding Chauncey into the Spirit World are his father, Chauncey David Sr.; brothers, Cletus Alan Sr., his son, Trey Blaine; his nieces: Ashley and Angel Blaine; and grandson, Reagon Irons; Hunka brother, Clement Blacksmith Jr., and Aunt Joyce Blaine.
