Dale James "DJ" Fryda, 66, of Springfield

Funeral services are 2 PM, Thursday, October 16, 2014 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Springfield with Pastor Ken Johnson officiating. Burial is in the Springfield Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation is Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM with family present from 6 to 7 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield.

Dale James (D.J.) Fryda, son of Dale and Elaine (Lange) Fryda, was born June 26, 1948 in Yankton, SD. He died October 12, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall. D.J. attained the age of 66 years, three months and 16 days.

D.J. attended country school in Bon Homme County and graduated from Springfield High School in 1966. He attended Southern State College in Springfield before beginning his lifelong career in trucking. He owned and operated gravel trucks on road construction projects throughout the Midwest beginning in 1971.

On September 24, 1971 D.J. married Becky Pechous at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Tabor. Two children, David Dale and Lisa Renee were blessed to their union.

D.J. began Fryda's Gravel Business in the 1980's. During this time he also did commercial fishing on the Missouri River with his father Dale. In 1990 he bought the family farm Southwest of Springfield. In 2008 he began D.J. Fryda Trucking doing over the road hauling throughout the country. Together he and Becky farmed, raised cattle and ran the trucking business. In 2012 they moved into Springfield due to D.J.'s failing health.

D.J. greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish and trap. He enjoyed cards, puzzles, coffee and BS'ing with friends and family. Hunting dogs were always a part of D.J.'s life and he was seldom without a faithful dog by his side.

Thankful for sharing his life are his wife of 43 years, Becky of Springfield, son David of Riverdale, ND, daughter Lisa of Roanoke, VA; and brothers Gregory and Paul Fryda of Tamarac, FL.

D.J. is preceded in death by his parents.
