Dana Groom, 66, of White Lake

Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3 to 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner and will continue at the church from 6 to 7 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 7 PM.

Dana Lea (Bastemeyer) Groom, was born October 8, 1948 in Wagner, SD to Melvern (Bee) and Norma Sue (Garberick) Bastemeyer. She died September 27, 2015 at the age of 66 years, 11 months and 19 days at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home, White Lake, SD.

Dana attended school in Wagner, SD. She was united in marriage on September 14, 1968 to Joe Groom in Wagner, SD. Twin daughters, Jennifer and Janelle were born of this union.

Dana had many occupations in her life, but her greatest devotion was to her family and friends. She loved to bake, cook, sew and welcome people into her life and her home. Dana and Joe, along with their daughters, operated the Pizza Depot in Parkston, SD. After moving to Sioux Falls, she was employed at HSBC until declining health caused her to retire. She became a resident a Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in October 2013.

Dana is survived by her husband Joe of White Lake; daughters: Jennifer Fey, White Lake, Janelle (Aaron) Austin, Sioux Falls, Connie (Dan) Even, Sheboygan Falls, WI; 10 grandchildren: Nick and Matthew Fey, White Lake; Noah, Jayden, Charley and Mitchell Austin, Sioux Falls; Katie, Megan, and Gregory Even, Hannah (Austin) Haack and one great granddaughter, Emma Haack, all of Sheboygan Falls, WI; brothers: Mark (Paula), Rick (Karen) and Craig Bastemeyer, all of Lawrence, KS; sisters: Sandy Fechner, DeElla (Dick) Soukup, Paula (John) Tuttle, all of Wagner, SD, Deb (Mike) Abdouch, Sioux Falls and Carla (Mike) Grosshuesch of Springfield, SD; brothers-in-law: Frank (Shirley) and Gib (Soon), all of Bristow, OK; and Bud (Sue) of Mt. Home, ID; many nieces and nephews; Aunt Diana Schroeder of Wagner; and also several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; parents-in-law, Floyd and Thelma Groom; brother, Dennis; son-in-law, Bob Fey; brothers-in-law: Don Fechner and Jim Groom; sister-in-law, Muriel Rains; and niece, Michele Bastemeyer.
