Danelle Squirrel Coat, 42, of Lake Andes

Funeral services were 11 AM, Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the White Swan Community Center in Lake Andes. Wake services started Wednesday at the Community Center. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner was in charge of arrangements.

Danelle Dawn "Psehtin Win" Squirrel Coat, known as Dani to family and friends, was born August 12, 1971 to George Squirrel Coat and Natalie (Ashes) Medicine Bear in Wagner, SD. Danelle died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at her home in Lake Andes from natural causes. She attained the age of 41 years, four months and 20 days.

Dani grew up in the Lake Andes-Wagner area. She lived periodically with her father in Minnesota and South Dakota. She also lived in Omaha for a few years where she met her husband, Thomas Vaughan. Dani attended school in Lake Andes.

Dani will be remembered for her kind heart, unconditional love for her family and friends, and for the love of life. Her children were the most important accomplishment in her life.

Thankful for having shared her life are her children: Makayla and Lalik; her husband, Thomas; her mother, Natalie Medicine Bear; her brothers: Kardsten Squirrel Coat, Tyson Fairbanks and Clyde Squirrel Coat; her sisters: Missy Ashes, Jessica and Angeline Squirrel Coat and Nadine Fairbanks; special aunts: Tillie Kills Plenty and Wilma Ashes; stepsisters: Bernice Medicine Bear and Lydia Antelope; stepbrother, Tyler Vaughan; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and one granddaughter.

Welcoming her home in Heaven are her baby, Gabriel; her father, George Squirrel Coat; stepfather, David Medicine Bear; her paternal grandparents, Francis and Hazel Simmons Ashes; her aunts: Kerry Ashes, Elsie Sitting Crow and Martha High Pipe; uncle, Donnie Byrd; cousins: Alberta Ashes, Patty Sitting Crow, Celesta Sitting Crow; one stepsister, Clarice St. Pierre; and one niece, Baby Grace.
