Obituary

Daniel Morrow, 91

Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Saturday, July 25, 2026 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Lake Andes. Burial is in St. Mark’s Catholic Cemetery, Lake Andes. The service will be live streamed at stpaulstmark.com.

Daniel A. Morrow was born on August 17, 1934, to Arthur and Bertha (Moneke) Morrow in Wagner, SD. He was the seventh of eight children. Dan passed away on July 21, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his four daughters.

He met the love of his life, Carol J. (Carpenter) Morrow, in high school at Ravinia, SD. They were married on October 18, 1954 and farmed together for 34 years. Other than marrying Carol and the birth of his daughters, his proudest accomplishment was playing basketball for the Ravinia Bears in the 1953 State Tournament.

Dan and Carol moved from their farm place in 1988 and bought a home in Wagner. Then, in 1995, Dan and Carol built their dream home in Pickstown, where they remained until 2005, when they moved to Mitchell.

Dan was well known for his big heart and gentle soul. He would always tell people that he was a lucky man and that he had lived a wonderful life.

Grateful for having shared his life are his four daughters: Cathryn Smith of Hazel, SD, Nancy Gall of Lake Andes, Pamela (Dick) Groen of Mitchell, Tracey (Dan) Krcil of Wagner; 10 grandchildren: Jacob (Dixie) Smith, Matthew (Anna) Smith, Kimberly (Chris) Claymore, Andrea (Shane) Rein, Laura (Taylor) Anderson, David (Nataliya) Gall, Sara (Barrett) Jarabek, Lori (Clif) Kayl, Scott (Carroline) Kniffen, and Ryan (Anna) Krcil; 24 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Susan (Robert) Beal; and several nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Carol J. Morrow; parents, Arthur C. and Bertha Morrow; his father- and mother-in-law, Brownie and Elinor Carpenter; and seven siblings along with their spouses.

Memorials will be donated to the St. Mark's Catholic Cemetery Fund in Lake Andes.
