Darlene Newman, Wagner
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Wagner Community Church, rural Wagner, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner.
Darlene Newman of Wagner, SD entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. She was born on the family farm south of Wagner on April 20th, the daughter of Henry and Clara (Stock) Reinschmidt.
Darlene attended school at the Freeman Junior College in Freeman and graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1956. She then attended college in Springfield, earning her teaching degree in 1958. Darlene also took classes at Yankton College and SD State University, where she earned her Masters Degree in Education. She taught in Platte, Marty, Hardin, MT and finished her 32 years in education as a Guidance Counselor in Newtown, ND. Darlene loved every school she taught at and adored all of her students.
Darlene married Dale Newman on May 29, 1958. They farmed together for many years in the Lake Andes area. She had two children: Daylene and Brett, to whom she was a good Mother.
Darlene belonged to the Wagner Community Church, the 181 Extension Club, Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge. She loved to play cards, bake, garden and grow flowers.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Willard "Curly" and Henry, Jr.
Darlene is survived by her children: Daylene Newman of Missoula, MT, and Brett and wife Jacqueline Newman of Copperas Cove, TX; two brothers: Doyle and wife Norma Reinschmidt of Wagner and Harold "Dutch" and wife Elsie Reinschmidt of Yankton; one sister: Florine and husband Jim Ehrisman of Wagner; two sisters-in-law: Colleen Wiechmann of Wagner and Yvonne Stock of Omaha, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
