Bud married Marlene VandenBos August 13,1957 at the Platte Christian Reformed Church. He was inducted into the Military on September 9, 1957. Bud and Marlene lived in Germany for a short time and then returned home to start a family and farm in the Avon and Springfield areas. After Marlene passed away on May 20, 2003. Bud continued to farm at their homeplace outside of Springfield. On February 5, 2005, Bud married Elaine Sybesma. They built a house in Springfield, but he continued to drive to the country daily to help where he could. Bud was a lifelong member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church and served as an elder and deacon throughout his younger years. Due to health reasons Bud moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Scotland in April of 2023. He passed away April 17, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Scotland.
He will be remembered for his love of farming, going for a drive, his overflowing Tupperware of cookies and his hot thermos of coffee. He loved it when friends and family would stop and visit, be it for the holidays or just when they were in town. Even though he was unable to speak in his later years due to dementia you could still get a big smile, a wink and a handshake.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of Scotland; four children: Bonnie (Louie) Kozak of Yankton, Sandy Spanton of Sioux Falls, Terry Wiebenga (special friend Peggy) of Yankton, David John (Shannon) Wiebenga of Avon; stepson Keith (Harriett) Sybesma of Platte; stepdaughter Marci (Thaine) Swanson of Castle Rock, CO; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; and 5 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Wiebenga of Clear Lake, IA; nephew, Doug Wiebenga (Sara), of Lakeville, MN; and 2 great nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, his first wife Marlene, his brothers, Clarence and Robert Wiebenga, and numerous sisters and brothers in-law and a nephew, Greg Wiebenga.
We will miss Bud dearly but know that he is celebrating in heaven with all who have passed before him.
Condolences may be sent to David John Wiebenga 30867 407th Ave, Avon SD 57315.
