Delphine Selwyn, 93, of Wagner
Delphine died Monday, May 4, 2015 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral Services are 10:30 AM, Friday, May 8, 2015 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Marty. Burial is in the parish cemetery. Wake services began Tuesday at the American Legion Hall in Wagner. Wake will move to the church and continue at 7:30 PM, Thursday, at the church. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Delphine Freda LaPlante-Selwyn was born in Greenwood, SD to Margaret and Charles LaPlante on June 21, 1921. Because she was born at midnight, she insisted that the family celebrate her birthday two days.
She attended the Greenwood Country School. In 1941, she married Henry George Selwyn. They were the first to be married at the Catholic Church in Greenwood.
To this union 14 children were born. Delphine enjoyed the years she worked at Marty Indian School as a Middle School dorm matron. She always had a caring and loving heart for these children.
Delphine was a devoted christian and taught all of her children to live and have faith in Jesus.
She will be dearly missed by all those that she loved and cared for.
She will be watching over those she has left behind including four sons: Henry Louis of Mission, Frank of Wagner, Anthony of Oregon and Roger of Wagner; three daughters: Kathy, Cheri and Barb, all of Wagner. She also leaves behind 50 grandchildren; 73 great grandchildren and 27 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including Jimmy Selwyn, Carol Anderson, Georgette and Francis Boyer, Lois Stock and Cheryl Selwyn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry George Selwyn, six sons: William, Thomas, Pat, Jake and Jim;and a daughter, Mary Agnes Frankenstein.
