Obituary

Diana Schroeder, 82, of Wagner, died Saturday, March 28, 2020 at her home in Wagner.

Visitation will be Tuesday from  4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Peters Funeral Home in Wagner. This is open to the public, although the number of visitors will be carefully monitored to be respectful of proper social distancing. Due to current health concerns, a private family funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. Burial will be in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.

Diana Bastemeyer was born February 2, 1938 at the Duggan Hospital in Wagner, to Cornelius "Casey" and Ella (Perrett) Bastemeyer. She attended school in Wagner through the 10th grade. She later attained her GED and then an Associate's Degree through Yankton College and Dakota Wesleyan via satellite classes in Marty.

She married Arthur Robertson on September 30, 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner. She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1955. The couple had three sons:  Dale, Dave and Jack. She enjoyed the farm life, raising chickens, slopping hogs, and milking cows. She also kept busy sewing, quilting and embroidering dish towels. Art passed away on June 10, 1971.

Diana married Keith Schroeder on January 12, 1973. Together they had four children: Chad, Beth, Jamie, and Sara.

She taught Sunday school, Bible school, and served on township and school elections. She was a 4-H leader and a lifetime member and past president of the VFW Auxiliary 7319. Diana also worked at Two Spurs, Crossroads and Wagner Super Foods.

Diana is survived by her children: Dale (Barb) Robertson of Underwood, IA; Dave (Diane) Robertson of Wagner, Chad (LaMay Schumacher) Schroeder of Sioux Falls; Dr. Beth (Val Hoeppner) Schroeder of Nashville, TN; Jamie (Barbara Randall) of Sioux Falls; Sara (Craig Post) Schroeder of Doon, IA; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Connie (Bret) Kumpf of Columbus, NE; sister-in-law Mary Ann (Dean) Mitchell of Lake Andes; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art Robertson, son Jack Robertson, four brothers and their wives:  Wendell and Clara, Melvern "Bee" and Sue, Donald "Buzze" and Catherine, and LaVoyd "Buster" and Zellla; and her lifelong friend Joan Woods.
