Warrington
Jan 14, 1940 — May 10, 2025
Don L. Warrington, 85
Don Lee Warrington passed from this life to join his beloved parents and siblings on May 10, 2025. He was born on January 14, 1940, to George and Helen Maurine Warrington.
Growing up in a large, joyful family, he was one of seven children. Don attended high school in Springfield, South Dakota and furthered his education at Southern State Teachers College, Springfield, SD.
Don was married on August 5, 1989 to Vicki Jensen (Warrington). The lively couple held close relationships with all who knew them. Don spent many fruitful years working at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as a career development director. There, he influenced many faculty members and students alike.
Mr. Warrington participated in several hobbies such as playing the ukelele, woodcarving, skiing, and freshwater fishing. His fishing trips to Alaska and Florida with his buddies birthed many elaborate fishing “tales”. He was known to spend many happy hours tinkering about the garage or yard. Additionally, he and Vicki loved to travel and spend quality time with friends.
Don will be remembered as a loving husband and uncle. A kind and gentle individual, he had creative abilities and a twinkle in his eye that he shared freely with others. His love of redesigning outdoor spaces created a welcome mat for many to enjoy.
Don is survived by his adoring wife, Vicki Mae Warrington, one sister-in-law, Marilyn Warrington, as well as his nieces and nephews: Nancy Konrad, Peggy Welfl, Holly Hurrell, Judy Knoll, Royleen Kneen, Timothy Marker, Thomas Marker, Sherry Schamp, Penny Goeman, Pamela Fennema, Randall Warrington, and Ricky Warrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Helen Maurine Warrington, as well as his siblings: Jana Jelsma, Charlotte Welfl, Helen Wynia, Dorothy Marker, Alan Warrington, and Mervin Warrington.
A private graveside service will be held for the family on Friday, June 19, 2026. Memorial contributions can be given to the University of Nebraska Omaha Fund https://nufoundation.org/give/university-of-nebraska-at-omaha/ or the Nebraska Game and Parks Foundation https://www.nebraskagameandparksfoundation.org.
