Obituary

Donald Harrington, 64, of Wagner

Funeral services are 10 AM, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner, with military honors. Visitation will be Monday at the United Methodist Church in Wagner from 5 to 7 PM, followed by a Prayer Service at 7 PM. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Ray Harrington was born September 20, 1952 in Pickstown, SD, the son of Gerald "Tub" and Pat (Strayer) Harrington. He died Thursday, July 20, 2017 at his home in Wagner, surrounded by family.

Don attended country school and graduated from Wagner High School in 1970. He earned an Associates Degree from USD/Springfield. Don served in the National Guard for 20 years. He was a member of the American Legion.

Don married Marlene Mehlhaff on December 2, 1978 at the UCC Church in Scotland. He worked for the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital for 37 1/2 years.

Don will be remembered for his love of traveling with the kids and picking on and joking with everyone. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, drag racing, darts, softball, bowling and experimenting with cooking.

Thankful for sharing his life are his wife Marlene, of Wagner; three children: Wendy and Bryan Kayl of Crescent City, FL and their sons Brandan and Landon, Paul and Ruby Harrington of Freeman, and Laura Harrington of Seattle, WA; close family friend Johnnie Morse; beloved dog Ellie Mae; father Gerald "Tub" Harrington of Wagner; brother David Harrington of Wagner; sister Deb and Larry Cap of Mitchell; Uncle Harold Harrington of Indiana; Aunt Betty and Leroy Atkinson of Perham, MN; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Don was preceded in death by his mother Pat Harrington, grandparents, in-laws Clinton and Marie Mehlhaff, and several aunts and uncles.
