Donna Pedersen, 82, of Miller

Funeral services are 1:30 PM, Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the Springfield Community Bible Church in Springfield. Burial is in the Springfield Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 at the church. Peters Funeral Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Donna Mae DeGroot Pedersen was born November 15, 1938 at home near Kingsburg SD, the daughter of Thomas and Cornelia (DeRoos) DeGroot. She was the sixth of nine children. She died Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Society nursing home in Miller, SD.

Donna married Bruce Marlow Pedersen June 3, 1959. They were blessed with one son and two daughters.

Donna graduated from Springfield High School in 1956. After attending Southern State Teachers College, she taught elementary school in several places. She was librarian at Sunshine Bible Academy, Miller, SD and then at Nebraska Christian in Central City, NE.

Donna was faithful in her daily devotion time. She enjoyed the friendship and fellowship with her church friends at Grace Fellowship Bible Church in Central City.

Donna enjoyed counted cross stitch, crocheting, other needlework and puzzle books. She enjoyed reading, and sports. Her favorites were the Minnesota Twins and Vikings and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. She and Marlow were faithful supporters of the sports teams at SBA and NC.

Donna is survived by children: Gregory (Paula) Pedersen of Miller, SD, Julie (Jim) Eckhardt of St Peter, MO, and Christine (Tony) Hayes of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren: Grace (Stephen) May, Emily Pedersen, Joel Pedersen, Daniel Pedersen, Sarah (Daly) Beck, Samuel Pedersen, Elizabeth (Alex) French, Matthew Eckhardt, Michael Hayes and Joshua Hayes; great grandchildren: Arthur French, Thomas French, and Jameson May; sisters: Doris (Roger) Tucker, Judy (Larry) Seger; brothers-in-law Keith DeFries and Bob Shutt, and sister-in-law Pat DeGroot.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Cornelia DeGroot; husband Bruce Marlow Pedersen; son Thomas Ole Pedersen at birth; grandchildren: Michael Anthony Hayes and Matthew Hayes; sisters Leona (George) Ruppelt, Marge DeGroot, Betty DeFries, Thelma Kent, Clarice Shutt; and brother Tom DeGroot.

Memorials will be directed to Sunshine Bible Academy (Miller SD), Grace Bible Fellowship  (Central City NE), and the Nebraska Christian School (Central City NE).
