Doris Eckert, 84, of Avon

Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon. Burial is in the Gramkow-Vesper Lutheran Cemetery, rural Avon. Visitation is one hour prior to services.

Doris Mae Eckert was born July 26, 1932 at Dupree, South Dakota the daughter of Emil and Viola (Patterson) Ehresmann. She died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at her home in Avon.

Doris married Victor Eckert at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Tripp on January 1, 1954. They lived in Idaho, Montana and Oregon where Victor worked on building dams before moving to Avon in 1968. Doris worked at the leather factory in Avon and also babysat.

Doris will be remembered for her love of fishing, hunting, sewing, crocheting, gardening and she did lots of canning.

Thankful for having shared her life are her two sons: Mark (Brenda) of Chuckey, TN, Bruce and friend Leslie of Wimauma, FL; daughter, Cindy (Wes) Sassaman of Avon; eight grandchildren: Chad Anderson of Wagner, Michelle (Jeff) Bathke of Mitchell, Janelle Vaughan of Mitchell, Amy (Ryan) Townsend of Madison, Casey Sassaman of Avon, Tyler (Julia) Sassaman of Wagner, Richard (Cynthia) Eckert of Wimauma, FL and Andrea (Jeffrey) Jackson of Wesley Chapel, FL; 16 great grandchildren and one on the way; and several cousins and relatives.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Victor on October 19, 2013; parents; two brothers Herman and Roger Ehresmann; sister Joan Ehresmann; sister-in-law Loretta Houska; and three brothers-in-law: Rodney, Earnest and Albert Eckert.
