Dorlan Rolston, 80, of Wagner
Dorlan died Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral services will be 10 AM, Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation is at the church on Wednesday from 6 to 7 PM, followed by a 7 PM Prayer Service. Peters Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
Dorlan was born October 18, 1940 in rural Lake Andes, SD, the son of Fenton and Thelma (Durham) Rolston. He died Friday, June 18, 2021 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner.
Dorlan graduated from Lake Andes High School in 1958. He married Janith May Been on March 18, 1961 in Lake Andes. Dorlan worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 34 years, working as a Realty Specialist for many years. He served on boards of the Wagner Community School, the ASCS and the FSA. He also helped the Yankton Sioux Tribe with several projects during his career.
Dorlan will be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, feeding the birds and squirrels, visiting with people, and watching the Minnesota Twins. He loved spending time with his grandkids and taught them how to do many things such as: hunting, fishing, woodworking, and how to drive.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Janith of Wagner, three daughters: Kathy (Robert) Kazena, Brenda (Ronnie) Fredrich and Michelle "Goose" Meiers, all of Wagner; 10 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; two sisters: Linda Bambas of Ravinia and Anna Tatum of Tuscon, AZ; brother-in-law Larry (Bridgetta) Beem of Waynesville, MO; sister-in-law Betty Keatts of Pasco, WA; and many nieces and nephews.
Dorlan was preceded in death by his parents, great granddaughter Maycie, great grandson Joesph, brothers: Harold (Gloria), Marvin (Dolly); sister Muade; and brothers-in-law: Richard (Verna) Beem, Wesley Keatts, Merritt Tatum, and Ronald Bambas.
