Dorothy Honomichl, 92, of Wagner Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner, SD. Burial will be in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner Wednesday from 3 to 5 p.m., followed by a 7:00 p.m. rosary/wake at the church.
Dorothy Marie Honomichl was born January 27, 1922 in Wagner, SD, the daughter of Albert and Mary (Valenta) Thaler. She died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD.
Dorothy attained the age of 92 years, two months and four days. Dorothy attended country school through the eighth grade. She married William "Bill" Honomichl on March 2, 1943 in Lake Andes. Two daughters were blessed to their union. After Bill's death on APril 6, 1963, Dorothy and her daughters moved into Wagner.
Dorothy worked for Buche's Grocery Store for many years. She also was an excellent steak cook at the VFW on Saturday nights. Later in life, she went to work at Boom's in Wagner. Upon her retirement in 2008, she continued to live in Wagner until she moved to Chamberlain to an assisted living center.
Dorothy later moved to the Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, where she lived until she passed away. Dorothy was a member of St. John Catholic Church, VFW Auxiliary in Wagner and the Card Club in Dante. Dorothy will be remembered for love of working and being around people. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and cards.
Thankful for having shared her life are her daughters: Judy Oorlog and husband Morris of Kimball and Bonnie Ehresmann and husband Dennis of Moorcroft, WY; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Ray of Wagner and George of Augusta, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Bill; parents; an unnamed infant sister; and seven brothers: Roy, Leo, Adolph, John, Louis, Lloyd and Ed.
