Dorothy Jones, 93, of Springfield

Funeral Mass will be 11 AM, Saturday, July 21, 2018 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, July 20 from 5 to 7, followed by a Scripture Wake service at 7PM. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Albina Jones was born Tuesday, December 16, 1924 on a farm south of Dante, SD to John and Anna (Thaler) Honomichl, where she grew up with seven siblings. She died Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.
Dorothy attended country school through the eighth grade. Her mother passed away in 1939 and her father passed in 1942. She babysat and worked for neighbors until she married Elmer (Kelly) Jones on October 24, 1942. Together they farmed and ranched south of Dante, SD on the river bottom where they raised their four children. Elmer "Kelly" passed away March 4, 1995.
Dorothy will be remembered for her love for her family, sewing, gardening and riding horses.
Dorothy is survived by her four children: Elmer Jones of Springfield, SD, Janice Schneider of Yankton, SD, Richard (Elaine) Jones of Springfield and Wanda (Mark) Gillen of White Lake, SD; seven grandchildren: Brad, Brian, Shelly, Bruce, Amy, Dick and Melissa; and 15 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: John, Leo, Robert, Hattie Davenport, Tillie Bush, Helen Keitzman and Stanley; two grandchildren, Russel DeJong and Eric Gillen; son-in-law Joe Schneider; and daughter-in-law Jeannie Jones.
