Douglas Lee Schladweiler, 57 of Wagner
Funeral services will be Tueday, April 20, 2010 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner at 1PM with visitation with family present from 11AM-1PM. Committal services will be 11AM, Wednesday, April 21 at Woodlawn Cemetery with memorial services at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2200 South Western, Sioux Falls at 1PM.
Douglas Lee Schladweiler of Wagner, South Dakota, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Wagner, SD. He was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on March 14, 1953 to Francis and Esther (Frey) Schladweiler.
Doug attended post-secondary schools at Caltech in Pasadena, California, and the University of California at Santa Barbara. Doug worked at the Wagner School District for 17 years as a school counselor. Most recently, he worked at BKS Environmental Associates, Inc. in Gillette, Wyoming.
He enjoyed the outdoors, working in his yard and searching for the "elusive thistle" to spray. He was an avid flea market and garage saler and enjoyed finding a bargain. When he could, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He touched the lives of all who met him and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his mother Esther of Sioux Falls, sister Carol and husband Rick Grose of Topeka, Kansas, sister Brenda Schladweiler of Gillette, Wyoming, nephew Jason and wife Bethannie Canter and great nephew Matthew Canter of Annandale, Virginia, special family friend Ralph Lindner of Sioux Falls, and many other friends and relatives.
Doug was preceded in death by his father, Francis.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Boys and Girls Club Wagner South Dakota or Sioux Falls Lutheran School.
