Elizabeth Oorlog, 87, of Avon
Funeral services will be 1 P.M., Monday, October 1, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Avon, with Rev. Michael Brandt officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Presbyterian Cemetery, rural Avon. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Chapel in Avon Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Elizabeth Oorlog was born February 5, 1920, the daughter of Phillip and Alma (Gentele) Schmoll. She died unexpectedly Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at her home in Avon. Liz attained the age of 87 years, seven months and 20 days.
Liz was united in marriage to Dick Oorlog on March 9, 1940, and they were blessed with 52 years together. Dick died March 14, 1992.
Liz was a lifelong resident of Avon and loved quilting, playing games and fishing. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and a member of the Senior Citizens in Avon. Liz was a designated, volunteer driver for the residents of Avon. She enjoyed each day and reaching out to the people in it.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Morris and wife, Judy of Kimball, and Marla Boese and husband, Bob of Sioux Falls; daughter-in-law, Lolita of Morristown, MN; six grandchildren: Denyse, Colin, Michelle, Trina, Anita and Lisa; nine great grandchildren: two brothers: Ray Schmoll of Rockford, IL; Arnie and wife Darliene Schmoll of Shannon, IL; three sisters: Lydia Craig and husband, Wayne of Freeport, IL; Lanora Barker and husband Bill of Roseburg, OR; and Vi Bushman of Dixon, IL; and many friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband; son, Myron in 2006; infant daughter, Myrna; parents; two brothers: Jake and Leonard Schmoll; and one sister, Esther Stimpson.
