Elsie Namminga, 91, of Springfield

Funeral services are 1 PM, Friday, December 3, 2021 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. The service will be live streamed on the Emmanuel Reformed Church Springfield, SD Youtube page. Burial is in the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be the hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Peters Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Elsie Gennevieve Namminga was born December 22, 1929 at New Holland, SD, the daughter of John and Clarinda (DeGroot) Munneke. She died Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Lake Andes Senior Living Center in Lake Andes.

Elsie was united in marriage to Lawrence Namminga on February 2, 1966. One child, Paul, was born to their union.

Elsie earned her high school diploma through correspondence courses. She graduated from USD/Springfield. She taught Elementary at Floyd Valley Community Schools in Hospers, IA. Elsie then taught as a substitute and art teacher at Bon Homme Schools in Springfield and Tabor until she retired in 1992.

Elsie was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, there she served as a former Catechism and Sunday School teacher.

Elsie will be remembered for her love of arts and crafts, christian music, and angels. This led to her naming her kitty Angel.

Thankful for having share her life are her son Paul (Lynn) Namminga of Lake Andes and their sons, Lincoln (Macie Nelson) Namminga and Grant (Mackenzie Havranek) Namminga; four step children: Lawrence (Cheri) Namminga, Jr. of Springfield, Rachel (Gary) Gunderson of Rapid City, Arlis Wozniak of Eugene, OR, and Merle (Stephanie) Namminga of Shelby, OH, and their children: Brian, Mandy, Shannon, Heather, Amy, Luke, Bethany, Leah, and Dakota; sister Betty (Harold) Beukelman of Volga; and several other relatives.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence on November 25, 1983, parents, and brothers Marvin and Harold Munneke.
