Elvis Provost, 57, of Wagner

Funeral services were 10 AM, Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the National Guard Armory in Wagner. Burial was in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Wake services began Sunday at the Armory.

Elvis Oraye Provost, 57, aka "The King" by his Freedom Rider family. He lived in Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Wagner. He passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 18, 2019 in Sioux Falls, SD.

Elvis was born to Violet Ashes and Clayton Provost in Wagner, SD on October 12, 1961. He grew up in Greenwood and Wagner area.

Elvis attended Marty Indian School and graduated from there in 1981. After high school, Elvis made his way to Rosebud, SD and resided there for awhile.

Elvis was an adventurous soul always on the move.

In 1988, he moved back to the Wagner area and found a job with Oorlog Construction in Avon, SD and was employed with them until 1991.
Elvis was the type of guy who liked to travel, he was always on the move.

His passion was to be around horses, outdoor, rodeos and a born Cowboy.

Up until Elvis passed on he was part of the Leonard Peltier Freedom Ride (2018/2019) and Sacred Horse Society.

Elvis never had any children of his own but had many nieces, nephews and grandchildren to fill that void.

Elvis is survived by his mother, Violet Provost-Ashes; brothers: Dorlan, Elgin, Verlyn, Leonard and Mahlon; sisters: Clarice, Kim, Kelly and Kristy; aunts Velma and Janice Provost; one uncle, Alvin Provost; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Elvis was preceded in death by his father, Clayton Provost; paternal grandparents, Elijah Provost and Emily St. Pierre; and maternal grandparents, Joseph Ashes and Florence "Minnie" Ashes.
