Emma M. Koupal, 98 of Wagner

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner, with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2 to 5 at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner, followed by a 7 p.m. Rosary/Wake service at the church.

Emma Marie Koupal, daughter of Bart and Adella (Hakl) Soukup, was born August 16, 1916 on a farm south of Wagner. She died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Emma attained the age of 98 years, one month and 30 days.

Emma attended Catholic School in Tabor for three years and Geddes Catholic School for one year. She graduated from the eighth grade at Ree #1 Country School. Emma also attended Wagner High School for two years.

Emma married Ralph James Koupal on September 18, 1939 in Dante. Six children were blessed to this union. They lived on a farm south of Wagner all of their lives and were blessed with nearly 70 years together. Ralph died September 4, 2009. Emma became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner on December 20, 2011.

Emma was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner and St. John's Altar Society.

Emma was a homemaker who loved to bake, sew, crochet and garden. She was well known for her poppy seed Bismarks.

Thankful for having shared her life are sons: Dennis and wife Rose of Wagner; Larry and wife Anita of Asheville, NC; Don and wife Theresa of Wagner and Jim (died December 3, 2011) and wife Renee'; daughters: Lois Potter of Fallbrook, CA and Margene Roeder of Evansville, IN; 21 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and relatives.

Emma was preceded in death by her husband; son James; parents; infant grandson Jordon Koupal; brother Thomas F. and wife Eleanor Soukup; sister Helen A. and husband Charles Koupal; three sons-in-law; Cleo Broz, Harold Roeder and Lawrence Potter; and nephew Richard Koupal and niece Charlene Soukup.
