Unci "Flossy" was a classy woman. She was always dressed for the occasion and she has made over 700 hand quilted star blankets. Her quilts are all over Grandmother Earth and she is known internationally from the Vatican to the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. Unci Winyan Numpa was very proud to be an Ihanktonwan. She shared and provided to us the Red Road of our ancestors; the Dakota Lifeways and teachings. We are happy and proud to have been gifted this greatest gift that one can offer. She Sundanced at the Elk Soldier and the Big Buffalo Sundances for many years and many danced proud as they wore her tailor made sundance skirts with a depiction of the Starquilt design, Ate Wi!
We will love and miss Unci forever. We are her legacy, we are her reflection in Life! Wanna Winyan Numpa iyaye.
