Geneva Glanzer, 42, of Greenwood Colony

Geneva was born on September 26, 1983, to Joe and Betty (Hofer) Glanzer at Greenwood Colony. She resided for a few short years at Clearfield Colony with her parents and siblings during the building of the new colony. She moved back to Greenwood when the two colonies split in the year 1996. She resided there until her death.

Geneva was baptized on her confession of faith in 2008. From early childhood, Paul and Geneva were the best of friends. They always wanted to play and spend time together. As a result, it came as no surprise to friends and family when the two were married in June of 2008.

They were blessed with three sweet and intelligent children who lovingly and patiently loved and cared for their mom through the past years. When her health began to decline, Tasha was always there to do the household chores and see that Mom was comfortable and being cared for. Kolter was always there to give her rides to Grandma’s when she wanted to go over and spend a few hours or guide her along the sidewalk to church or wherever she wanted to go. And Kaylee’s smile was there radiating through her eyes showing Mom her Love.

But—the person who loved and cared for her the most; who took their marriage vows to heart and lived them; seeing her through the good and the bad, through sickness and health, the joy, the sadness, the hardships and trials, and loved and cared for her with all of his heart. All his capability, and his love, was devoted to fulfilling her every wish and bringing her the most comfort and solace until the very end, was her husband, Marvin Paul. Loving her with an unending Love…

Geneva’s love for Hutterite life kept a sparkle in her eyes and a smile on her face. When a brain tumor was found to affect her life in 2015, it required medical treatment that set working limits for Geneva. This came as a tough situation for her. Her love for the outdoors—gardening and working along with the other ladies her age—and cooking for the colony in her turn were difficult tasks to leave behind. But—her pleasant and quiet nature was welcomed in the kitchen basement working amongst the older ladies. Her love of sewing also kept her busy for hours at a time. It was her pride and joy sewing a new item of clothing for anyone in the family. She loved singing and spending time with her children.

On September 5, 2026, at the age of 42 years, Geneva passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones after an 11 year battle with cancer. When God called her, saying, “You have fought the good fight… Come Home my Child.” This was hard for all that knew her, to let go of that pleasant smile.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 18 years, Marvin Paul Glanzer; her children: Tasha-17, Kolter-15, and Kaylee-11; her parents, Joe and Betty of Greenwood; her siblings: Lisa (George) - Greenwood, Joanne (Leonard) - Evergreen, Karen (George) - Collins, Jason (Brittney) - Wisconsin, Joel (Kathy) - Greenwood, and George - Wisconsin; her in-laws: Marvin and Annie - Greenwood, Marcella (Pr. Dale) - Collins, Angela (Kenneth) - Maple River, Suzann (Joseph) - Mayfield and Drake - Aberdeen.

Geneva was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca, in infancy; maternal and paternal grandparents; 3 uncles: Michael and Jacob of Cedar Grove Colony and David of Greenwood Colony; and one aunt, Hilda of Cedar Grove Colony; and one nephew, Liam Chase - Greenwood. 

Services were held Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the Greenwood Colony. Burial was in the Greenwood Colony Cemetery.
