Genevieve Broz, 88, of Wagner
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, January 31, 2011 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner. Burial is in the parish cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 PM until 5 PM at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner. Rosary/Wake services are 7 PM Sunday at the church.
Genevieve Broz was born February 9, 1922 at Wagner, SD, the daughter of Joseph and Mabel (O'Shonessy) McGuire. She died Thursday, January 27, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner. Gennie attained the age of 88 years, 11 months and 18 days.
Gennie graduated from Wagner High School in 1940. She worked as a bookkeeper for Buche's and the IH implement before her marriage.
Gennie married Darrell Broz on March 22, 1952 in Wagner. She was a homemaker while raising her children. Gennie then worked at the Wagner Community School as a teacher's aide for over 20 years. She retired from the school in 1994. She continued to keep the books for the VFW until this past year.
Gennie was an active member of St. John Catholic Church, altar society and was a CCD teacher for many years. She was a charter member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Gennie will be remembered for her love for her grandchildren and family. She was a mother figure and was very special to her nieces and nephews. Gennie loved reading, embroidering, coffee time and cooking and baking.
Thankful for having shared her life are her three children: Linda and husband Richard Clemens of Wagner; Terri and husband Kevin Erdmann of Crofton, NE; Vickie and husband Jim Krause of Mobridge; eight grandchildren: Brian Schroeder; Erin Schroeder; Tamara Moller; Patrick Clemens; Seth Erdmann; Sadie Erdmann; Genevieve Krause and Elizabeth Krause; eight great grandchildren; three brothers-in-law: LaVern Mazourek of Wagner; Keith and wife Mardi Schroeder of Wagner; and Charles Broz of Lenexa, KS; four sisters-in-law: Guriene McGuire of Wagner; Florence McGuire of Jefferson; Joyce Broz of Wagner; and Alice and husband Jim Shy of Berlin, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
Gennie was preceded in death by her husband Darrell on January 21, 1996; parents; two brothers: Bob and Mick McGuire; seven sisters: Bea Buferd; Francis Kuhlman; Dorothy Filipek; Mady Hoffman; Delores Mazourek; Shirley Schroeder and Maxine McGuire; and brother-in-law, Walden Broz.
