Gertrude Jandreau, 87, of Marty
Funeral services are 2 PM, Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at the Community Center in Greenwood. Burial is in the Holy Fellowship Episcopal Cemetery, rural Greenwood. Wake services are at the community center in Greenwood. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner is in charge of arrangements.
On May 5, 2018 at 2:41AM, Gertrude Violet Jandreau entered into the spirit world at the Lake Andes Health Care Center in Lake Andes. Gertrude, or Gertie as she is better known as, was born to Lema Omaha and Raymond Drapeau on July 28, 1930. Her siblings include Bill Kezena, Rudy Arpan, Robert Arpan, Raymond Arpan and step brother Fred Kazena. In 1931, she was adopted by Eunice and Herbert Black Cole.
In 1954, Gertie married Floyd Jandreau. From this union came four children. Two sons: David Darrell (deceased) and Raymond Lloyd; and two daughters: Minerva Ann and Adeline Eunice. Gertie had numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was employed at Marty Indian School as a cook for seventeen years. She loved her job but due to a leg injury she was unable to continue working for Marty Indian School.
Gertie was loved by many, many people throughout her life. She has numerous friends and relatives, many who affectionately called her "Gramma". She loved to listen to live music and dance. She was an enthusiastic dancer and a dance partner was never in short supply. Her favorite bands were Howie Gambler and Dustin Evans. One of her favorite songs was Margaritaville by Jimmy Buffet.
In addition to her love of music, Gertie enjoyed attending basketball and softball games. It gave her great pleasure to watch her grandchildren play ball. She was their number one fan. During her spare time she enjoyed going to Bingo and watching westerns.
Gertie's life was full with love and life. She touched many hearts and will be forever loved and missed.
