Obituary

Glenn Heusinkveld, 90, of Springfield

Funeral services are 10:30 AM, Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield. Burial is in the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation is Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the church. Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Glenn Heusinkveld was born June 15, 1928 on a farm west of Springfield, SD to Derk and Johanna (Wynia) Heusinkveld. He died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.
Glenn attended Equal Rights School through the eighth grade and then attended Northwestern Academy in Orange City, IA. Glenn married Jessie Boersma on April 24, 1951 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, rural Springfield. Together they farmed west of Springfield until retiring and moving into Springfield in 1997. His later years of farming he worked part-time for USDA doing Ag Census.
Glenn entered the Good Samaritan Society in August of 2015.
Glenn was a baptized, lifetime member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church.
Glenn will be remembered for his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events. He also loved going to farm auctions and having coffee while visiting relatives and friends. The coffee was always on and there was always ice cream in the freezer.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jessie of Springfield, SD; five children: Kevin (Annette) Heusinkveld of Murfreesboro, TN, Rodney Heusinkveld of Springfield, SD, Chester (Claudette) Heusinkveld of Springfield, SD, Brent (Susan) Heusinkveld of Gillette, WY, and Kayleen (Pete) Ehresmann of Yankton, SD; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Bernice Heusinkveld of Hull, IA.
Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Brinker; his granddaughter, Stephanie (Heusinkveld) Hartford; three brothers: Delbert Heusinkveld, Garrett and wife Edith Heusinkveld, and Marion Heusinkveld; and one sister, Susan and husband Jim Namminga.
Memorials in lieu of flowers and will be directed to the Emmanuel Reformed Church or the Good Samaritan Society in Tyndall.
