Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wagner with burial at Hope Lutheran Cemetery, rural Delmont. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church, followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service.
Gloria Ann Gunnare was born April 6, 1945 in Wagner, SD, the daughter of Harry and Sylvia (Simek) Uecker. She died Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society in Wagner after being diagnosed in the early 80's and suffering a long battle with Lupus.
Gloria attended the Lake Point District #92 country school in Bon Homme County near Tripp until she was needed to care for her sister after the passing of her mother.
Gloria married David Gunnare on July 4, 1965 at Hope Lutheran Church in Delmont. They lived on a farm south of Delmont until moving to Wagner in 1970. She was a hard worker who worked at the VFW, King Koin Laundromat, Tomahawk Speedway, and worked at the Good Samaritan Society for many years. She became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in 2014.
Gloria will be remembered for her love of spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends, and her love of animals, bowling and walking. She was a member of the Wagner Lions Club, the Red Hat Society, the Jaycettes, St. John Lutheran Church, where she taught catechism and Bible School and was active in the LWML.
Thankful for having shared her life are her three children: Kip (Tina) of Gillette, WY, Randy and friend Peggy of Armour and Lisa Ligtenberg of Wagner; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; two sisters: Betty (Steve) Kostboth of Freemont, NE and Bonnie (Dennis) Nielsen of Pickstown; and many relatives and friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Dave on December 17, 2006, a great grandson Adrian and her parents.
