IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harold "Jappy"
William Gosser
November 7, 1945 – August 8, 2020
Harold "Jappy" Gosser, 74, of Springfield
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 2 to 4 PM, with a service at 2:30, at the Veteran Memorial Park in Springfield. Please bring your own lawn chairs. Peters Funeral Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
Harold "Jappy" Gosser was born November 7, 1945 to William and Adela (Mueller) Gosser in Olivet, SD. He passed away peacefully with his faithful loving wife at his side on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.
Jappy lived on a farm and had three siblings, Sandra, Virgil and Carol. He attended school in Olivet and helped farm with his dad. He worked as a tree trimmer until the accident that took his arm. He returned to farming and helped other neighbors with their crops. He raised coon dogs and enjoyed hunting coon with them. He competed with his dogs and enjoyed it very much.
He married Carmen Johnson on February 11, 1983. They lived and worked on his dad's farm until 2000, when they moved to Springfield where they lived until his death.
Jappy loved to hunt and fish. He was an avid hunter of geese, ducks, turkey and deer. He hunted until his body said no more. He then enjoyed watching his wife hunt and especially his nephews. He enjoyed watching his wife raise quarter horses and loved watching the colts grow up. He was very proud of how Carmen broke the horses.
Jappy loved telling old stories of his life to his nephews and nieces. He loved his garden and it was never big enough. They shared all of their produce with family and friends. Jappy enjoyed going to coffee with his friends and solving the world's problems. He always had a smile for everyone and even on his last few days with us.
He enjoyed having nieces and nephews coming for the week and staying with he and Carmen on the farm.
He served on the Springfield City Council for a number of years. He was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed Church of Springfield.
Jappy leaves behind his wife Carmen of Springfield, sister Sandra (Ron) Hunhoff of Yankton, brother Virgil (Cara Lynn) Gosser of Philomath, OR, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Jappy was preceded in death by his parents, twin brothers Roy and Ray Gosser, and sister Carol Reisner.
