Helen Andersh, 99 of Wagner
Mass will be held 10:30 am Monday, October 12, 2009 at St. John's Catholic Church in Wagner, with burial in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner from 10 am to 5 pm Sunday, followed by a 7 pm Rosary/Wake Service at the church.
Helen Andersh, daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Kocmick) Petrik, was born March 12, 1910 at the farm home near Dante, SD. She died Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the Wagner Community Memorial Hospital. Helen attained the age of 99 years, six months and 27 days.
Helen attended Choteau Creek Country School through the sixth grade and then helped on the family farm.
Helen married William Andersh on January 19, 1931. Four sons were born to this union: Robert, Richard, Norman and Raymond. They resided on a farm northeast of Wagner until her husband's death in 1959. Helen moved into Wagner and was employed by the Wagner Community School as a cook in the lunch program for 14 years. After her retirement, she went to work for the Wagner City Liquor Store doing janitorial services for a number of years.
Helen was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Wagner, Altar Society and the VFW Auxiliary of Wagner.
Helen enjoyed gardening and pulling weeds, flowers, cats, playing solitaire, and watching baseball and football games. She enjoyed music and played many instruments for the neighborhood dances held in their home. Helen loved to reminisce about the fun times she had in Dante.
Thankful for having shared her life are three sons: Robert and wife Eleanor and Richard and wife Dorothy, all of Wagner; Raymond and wife Marcie of Aberdeen; daughter-in-law Deanna Andersh of Heron Lake, MN; 14 grandchildren; 28 great grandchldren; seven great-great grandchildren; and one on the way.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 1959; son Norman in 1983; parents; four brothers: Frank, John, Jim and Joe; and three sisters: Mary Plaatje, Emma Horky and Elsie Rysavy.
