Ida Voigt, 94 of Springfield and formerly of Avon



Funeral services will be 10:30 am Saturday, April 12, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Avon, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Avon Friday from 12 noon to 6 pm.



Ida Voigt, daughter of Jacob and Carolina (Rueb) Finck, was born December 11, 1913 on a farm near Tyndall, SD. She died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Avera St. Michael's Hospital in Tyndall. Ida attained the age of 94 years, three months and 28 days.

Ida attended a country school near rural Tyndall through the eighth grade.

Ida professed her faith in Jesus Christ at a young age. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Avon and joined the Women's Missionary Fellowship in 1955. She remained a faithful member and became an honorary member in 1998.

Ida married Eldon Voigt on June 5, 1932 at her parent's home. They farmed by George, IA, Adrian, MN and in 1945, they moved back to the Tyndall area and farmed until the death of her husband in 1979. Ida moved to Avon in 1981, to the Meadow View Manor in 1989, and to the Springfield Assisted Living Center in 2001.

Ida will be remembered for her love of baking, sewing, mending and crocheting.

Thankful for having shared her life are her five children: Lorraine Haugen and husband, Paul of Nashville, TN, Bettie Schuler and husband, Jim of West Bend, Wl, Mae Dvorak and husband, Vern of Tabor, Norman of Pine Bluff, AR, and Leatta Pudwill and husband, Larry of Tyndall; 20 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one brother, Calvin Finck and wife, Faye of Tabor; and many relatives.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon in 1979; a great-great grandson; two sisters: Irene Sheffield and Elenora Bitterman; and brother, Irvin Finck.
