Inez Horner, 89, of Wagner



Inez died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner. Funeral services will be 10 AM, Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Wagner. Burial is in the ZCBJ Cemetery, rural Wagner. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner on Monday from 2 PM until 5 PM. There will be prayer service at 7 PM, Monday at the church.

Inez F. Horner was born September 18, 1919 in Wagner, South Dakota, the daughter of Fred and Abbie (Barkley) Wiechmann. She died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Wagner, South Dakota.

Inez attended school through the eighth grade and attended beauty school in Mitchell. She married Glenn L. Horner on September 3, 1941 in Wagner, SD. Together they farmed north of Wagner for many years. They moved to town in 1964. Glenn died March 25, 1987. Inez entered the Good Samaritan Center on December 20, 2005.

Inez was a member of the Wiechmann Trio band, North Rural Circle and Neighbors Extension Club. She was a 65 year member of the United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Inez was a lifetime member of the the VFW Auxiliary.

Inez was very active in family activities, especially 4-H clubs. She enjoyed special time with her nieces and nephews. Inez will be remembered for her love of her many flowers, house plants and lawn. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and made many afghans and slippers for her family. Inez loved animals, especially her horse, Pinto. She was a very social lady who enjoyed visiting and had been a volunteer at the Good Samaritan Center.

Thankful for having shared her life are her daughter, Willa Kindt and friend Lisa Knight of Avon, SD; two sons: Dan and wife Jan Horner of Mitchell, SD; Steve and wife Pinky Horner of Storm Mountain Church Camp, Rapid City, SD; eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mabel Wiechmann of Wagner, SD; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Nellie Horner and two brothers: Frank and Willie Wiechmann.
