Ivan L. "Bill" Zoss, 73 of rural Armour
His funeral service will be 10:00 am Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the East Lake Andes Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Wagner Tuesday from 1 pm to 5 pm, followed by a 7 pm prayer service at the church.
Ivan Lee "Bill" Zoss was born April 22, 1936 at Manson, IA. He died at his home in rural Armour on Saturday, November 21, 2009 under hospice care. Bill attained the age of 73 years, six months and 29 days.
Bill went to country schools in Iowa and near Armour. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served from 1954 to 1957.
Bill married Karen Kay Kranig at Wagner on January 16, 1960. Four children were blessed to their union. Bill's family moved to a farm near Armour in 1941 and Bill and Karen bought the home place and lived there until February 1985. They moved to an acreage just outside of Armour. Their son, Jeffrey is still living on the home place and farming. Bill loved farming the home place and later helping his son with the farming.
Bill was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #6897 in Armour. He also was a member of the East Lake Andes Lutheran Church.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife Karen of Armour; children: Carolyn Danley of Newton, IA; Ivan and wife Arletta of Yankton; Jeffrey of Armour; and Jackie Blake and husband Mike of Westminster, CO; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; seven brothers: Bennie of Mitchell; Norman of Jefferson; Charles and wife Marge of Yankton;Bennis and wife Donna of Adel, IA; Jerry of Commerce City, CO; Larry of Elk Point; and Jimmy and wife Jennene of Pueblo, CO; two sisters: Shirley Misner and husband Bill of Aurelia, IA; and LeAnn Schuldt of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Marvin and Gary.
