Obituary

Ivan R. Ludens, 58 of Springfield
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church in Springfield, with inurnment at the Emmanuel Reformed Cemetery, rural Springfield. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Crosby-Jaeger Funeral Home in Springfield.
Ivan Ronald Ludens, son of Harold and Marjorie (Odens) Ludens, was born September 5, 1959 at Tyndall. He died unexpectedly Thursday, April 26, 2018 at his home in Springfield. Ivan attained the age of 58 years, seven months and 22 days.
As a young baby, Ivan was baptized on Nov. 2, 1959 at the Emmanuel Reformed Church.
Ivan attended Lincoln Country School and graduated from Springfield High School in 1977. He then received his two year Associates Degree at USD/S.
Ivan married Sheri Brown on March 5, 1983 at the United Church of Christ in Vermillion. Three children were blessed to their union.
Throughout his life, Ivan worked for Springfield Motors, Mesman Farm Supply and the Mike Durfee State Prison, where he was the supervisor for the Heating Plant until the time of his death. He also farmed with his Dad.
Ivan was a former member of Ducks Unlimited and the Springfield Fire Department.
Ivan will be remembered for his love of snowmobiling, racing, hunting and driving (slowly) around Springfield.
Thankful for having shared his life are his wife, Sheri of Springfield; children: Tausha and husband Tyler Campbell of Tyndall; Shane and girlfriend, Marlaina Wendland of Tea; and Lexie of Sioux Falls; grandchildren: Cash, Crue, Eisley (and one more on the way); his parents; siblings: Michael and wife Mary Lou of Yankton; Jane and husband Dale King of Hinckley, OH; Joan and husband Lauren Tolsma of Sioux Falls; and Brian and wife Kim of Volga; his mother-in-law, Helen Brown; two brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and many other relatives.
Ivan was preceded in death by his grandparents: Walt and Grace Ludens and Boldewyn and Anthonetta Odens; and his father-in-law, Ronald Brown.
