Jack Dean Fender was born January 10, 1956 in Sioux City, IA, the son of William H. And Marie (Page) Fender. He died Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton.

Jack was the youngest of nine children. He attended grade school and high school in Springfield. He worked in various construction jobs during his career. He was a "jack of all trades" who could fix almost anything. He did plumbing and electrical work, and worked on natural gas pipelines. He helped build the bridges over the Missouri River in Yankton and Springfield and worked on the Bon Homme/Yankton Water District project. He was a very smart, hard worker with a very mechanical mind. His work took him to various parts of the country with the majority of his work being in TX, IA & SD.

Jack married Julie Clausen at the United Church of Christ in Springfield. One son, Jason, was born to their union. He later married Laurie Velleck and a daughter, Jamie Lee, was born to their union. He met Michelle Pecka at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Yankton on October 5, 2017. Jack attended this church and the former pastor of this church helped him on his road to recovery and peace. Michelle took care of Jack up until the time of his passing and he always appreciated her constant care for him.

Jack will be remembered for his love of fishing, his birds, his kitties (who were very spoiled), sports, especially football games, wrestling on tv, watching Western movies, and collecting coins. Jack was a member of the United Church of Christ.
